I know what you're thinking . . . another James Lee Burke book. The point is, I guess I've really been enjoying these Dave Robicheaux novels.

A Morning for Flamingos takes place at an earlier time than many of the Robicheaux novels that I've already read took place. This one happens after Dave's first wife is dead but before he marries Bootsie. In fact, we meet Bootsie for the first time in this novel and Dave and Bootsie get married at the end.

During a prisoner transfer Dave's partner is killed and Dave is left for dead. Trying to get the pieces of his life back together, Dave rejoins the New Iberia police force only to be contacted by DEA and asked to go under cover. In doing so he might just have the opportunity to catch the man who killed his partner and left him for dead.

As with several of Burke's other novels, mystery fans should enjoy this story as Burke slowly weaves the multiple plot lines together until the the escaped prisoner, a voodoo practicing madam, an old flame, and a Vietnam veteran mobster all come together into a final confrontation.

This was another one that I liked. I really liked getting the background on Dave that was provided along with the introduction to Bootsie. This is another one that I suggest you buy and read.
