Order A Thief of Time

I've recently been on the road quite a bit due to family health situations. A family member, knowing how much I love to read, offered to loan me this mystery novel on tape to listen to during my long six hour ride home last week. This is the first audio novel I've listened to in quite some time. It won't be the last.

Read by its author, A Thief of Time tells the story of Lt. Joe LeapHorn and Officer Jim Chee of the Navajo Tribal Police as they investigate what appears to be two separate incidents. A missing archeologist, Dr. Eleanor Friedman-Bernal, has been accused of being a pot seller. . . a thief of time . . . a grave robber.

Someone has also stolen a backhoe, a tool of the professional pot seller.  As the bodies begin to multiply, it becomes more and more apparent that the two cases are connected in some way.

Hillerman does and excellent job of intermixing his story with facts about the Navajo culture. It took a little over three hours and about a hundred and fifty miles of Missouri small highways to listen to Hillerman read his own book.

I enjoyed this audio book and plan on listening to more in the future. I also plan on looking for more of Hillerman's mysteries, both in print and on tape. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
