| Tony Hillerman Harper Audio 1989 Audio Novel |
Another long trip in the van and another Tony Hillerman novel. This time the book was Hillerman's Talking God.
This one was another read by its author. Talking God delves into Navaho religion. The story takes Lt. Joe LeapHorn and Officer Jim Chee of the Navajo Tribal Police to Washington, D.C. as they investigate a murder and a grave desecration. Suddenly, they find themselves mixed up in terrorism and international intrigue.
As with the previous three books I've listened to, Hillerman does an excellent job of intermixing his story with facts about the Navajo culture. This time, however, the story deals with the religion of these people. I was intrigued by the level of knowledge that Hillerman displayed in discussing this aspect of Navaho culture. After listening to this book, I know that this aspect of the books is part of why I enjoy his work so much.
As with two of the previous books. it took a little over three hours and about a hundred and fifty miles of Missouri small highways to listen to the two cassettes that make up this audio book. As with his previous books, I enjoyed this one very much and plan on listening to more in the future. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
